Butterfly finds the following values important in her educational space

Mutual respect
Everyone in the educational spaces Butterfly creates, will be respectful towards any other being. No form of discrimination or dismissiveness will be tolerated. Any person of any gender, identity, orientation, religion or background is welcome. We accept ourself and others as they are, regardless of shape, size, colour, et cetera. We will not express any verbal or otherwise outward opinion or judgement on any of those aspects.

Consent
We interact with each other with consent. If you're unsure you know what it's about, watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZwvrxVavnQ

Sharing is caring
We share the available space during the class equally: we don't take the best spot for ourselves, but we see who needs what and arrange this accordingly.
We share the available attention from the teacher(s) organically, and we make sure everyone gets an equal shot at asking question and getting attention.
We gladly bring things to share amongst the group, such as drinks, snacks and learning material such as books.

Only wanted feedback
We all like to share our knowledge and experience. When we see the opportunity to give others feedback or advice, we ask if it’s welcome before giving it. We accept “yes”, “no” and “maybe later”.

Flow
We never interrupt an interaction involving rope, because we respect the flow while in ropes. When people are tying, we do not talk to them. We don’t give them compliments, advice or anything while they’re busy. We wait until they’re done tying, talking, cuddling and coiling the rope until we speak to them.

Personal responsibility
We all take 100% responsibility for our own well-being, and take good care of ourselves. We express our needs, wants and desires, as well as our limitations and boundaries. When we need help or have questions, we inform the teacher or ask our neighbour.

Enjoyment
In the end, we practice shibari because we like to have fun. So don't forget to enjoy yourself!
