Hi, I’m Butterfly

I love Shibari, the intimate art of Japanese rope bondage. It brings us the opportunity to explore connection, surrender, leading & following, trust and intimacy. I usually call this ‘playing for adults’.

I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge. That is why I am teaching Shibari workshops, masterclasses and private lessons since 2012.

Coaching

Besides teaching Shibari, I am a certified Coach & RelationshipTherapist. I guide couples and individuals around relating, intimacy, sexuality, trauma, emotions, behavioural patterns, stress and tension release.

My Shibari background

My journey into Shibari started with me getting tied about 20 years ago. After years of enjoying getting tied, I decided to learn to tie as well.

I have taken classes with about 40 different teachers, over the years.

My passion brought me to Japan, England, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Sweden and Spain.

In Japan (2012) I took lessons from Osada Steve, Nawashi Kanna, Haruki Yukimura, Saki Kamijo and Otonawa-san. In Europe I took lessons with many different teachers (2011-2022).

Learning Shibari

I am based in The Netherlands (workshops in Utrecht and private tuition in Amersfoort). And I regularly teach all around Europe.

I teach in Dutch, English or Spanish – depending on the participants.

Since I have ample experience in both tying and being tied, I can provide people in both roles with valuable input. In a relaxed atmosphere, with room for humor and everyone's personal contribution, I examine knowledge and skills with which you can experiment further at home.

I make an effort to be an inclusive teacher. No matter your age, gender, orientation, body type, experience level - everyone is welcome. I understand you might be nervous or excited taking part in a workshop or a lesson. So we always start by creating a safer space together. Usually, people feel really safe and relaxed within the first hour. So even when you're hesitant, come take a lesson with me!
